Its Friday and man am I tired. I could seriously crawl back into bed and fall asleep, but alas work awaits my arrival after the kids are off to school.
Yesterday another 4 miles was scheduled and I was able to do it! My body had energy and I succeeded in getting in the mileage and then made it off to volleyball. So my volleyball team appears to be super competitive. I don't mind that but the trouble is when someone shanks a ball they get upset at themselves and it affects the rest of their play. Now I don't know these people so I just try to stay up beat and cheer them on but man the attitude of one of the girls was just down right silly. Its a game people, you're not trying to win a gold medal here, I think if you win the #1 spot you get extra beer.....Certainly not my motivator. I'm out there to have a good time, to continue to get exercise and just have fun. Why don't others see it that way. I mean if you've had a bad day then just smack the ball to take out your aggressions, it works.
OK, off the soapbox now. I'm hoping that my body has enough energy for tomorrow's big run. Although tomorrow is only 30 minutes and I've been doing that with my 4 milers. I may extend the time because of only getting in 1 mile on Tuesday, we'll see how I feel. The house needs cleaning too (I wish it would clean itself).

Struggle
So yesterday I attempted to do 4 miles of running per my training program. I knew it would be a struggle but and well I just wasn't up to the battle. I ran for a mile and it took everything I had and then I had to stop. I couldn't do any more, my body just wouldn't allow me to run another step. I was disppointed but I headed to the bike and rode for 5.5 miles. I felt a little better, not feeling that I gave up on a full workout but that I did what I could. I tried to feel like I still was victorious but I still had a feeling of disappointment. As I stretched and listened to my iPod I tried to relax a little and just be happy of the accomplishment of working out for 30 minutes.
I'm hoping tonight I can get in 3 miles on the elliptical, the 3 I missed yesterday. Its just so frustrating and a small thing like a woman's hormones can cause such an inbalance in our daily lives. I know that I've complained A LOT and I know I shouldn't. I have my heath and I can function on a daily basis. There are so many others who are having major issues in their lives and here I am moaning about my little woes.
My goal is to take things as they come. I can't control everything and I can only do what my body tells me I can do. I won't press myself to do more if I can't, I don't want to risk injury. I will also try to not be so hard on myself when I struggle. Things are out of my control and I can't do anything about it. I will appreciate what I can do and celebrate the victory in that accomplishment.
A quick thank you to the followers of the blog, shoot, I just started blogging and all I feel I do is complain, hopefully that will change. Well, I'll make an effort and hopefully I'll succeed.
On a good note, I just ready my annual review notes and its the best review that I've received in my current position. I'm very excited about that and that certainly boosts my mood in an upward direction. Its funny, I think I do my job well but never want to toot my own horn, its something I've never been good at, but it looks like my boss has recognized my contributions and I couldn't be more pleased. With my role on the team as the only non-technical individual its harder to prove myself and show that the functional work I do is an asset and helps this technical team I'm on.
I wish everyone a good day! Keep warm and well, lets enjoy the sunshine!

Case of the Crabbies
I'm so not in the mood for anything. Hormones are full swing and I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat. I didn't want to work today, all I wanted to do was curl up in bed. Knowing that's not an option of course I get ready for work and E is sick. He's got a funky cough and looks just down right miserable. So I opted to keep him home and have him rest. Which means I get to work from home and that's great because I'm very anti social. I really hate feeling like this. I had more pain yesterday than I've had in awhile and now this crabbiness. I shouldn't complain and bitch because its not serious, I have my health, I just have out of control hormones. Hopefully something that will be easily corrected when I see the doctor next week. All I can do is apologize to all my friends and family for the constant bitching I've been doing over the past few months (well year and a half).
So now that I've finished lunch, I'll continue working listening to cartoons in the background and SUCK IT UP and try and function like a normal human being.

Dells Weekend
This weekend was spent in the Dells with some good friends. Its amazing how you come across people in your life and these fine ladies were all met over the internet. Funny, I never thought I'd actually meet people over the internet and then become good friends with them. I don't know how I got so lucky to have each of them in my life but I am appreciative of all of them for what they have meant to my life. There were a few ladies missing for one reason or another and they were missed but I look forward to their company at other occasions.
I would like to thank Karen and Missy for the company on the drive to and from the Dells. I enjoyed the talks and love knowing that I'm not the only one that thinks certain things. It gives me sanity knowing I'm not alone. A special thank you to Christine for the thoughtful Christmas gift (she got my name for the exchange). I can't wait to light my candles, take a bath with a glass of wine. I appreciate the thought that went into the gift. Thank you to Kristi for her wonderful infectious laugh. Her smile and laugh makes me happy and she gives the best hugs. And of course there's Jen. Thank you for making me smile, I still find it funny that she wasn't sure what to think of me when we first met. And last, the ladies that couldn't make it, Deanna, Dana and Cindy, thank you for all your friendship and support you've shown me over the years. Again, I'm not sure how I got so lucky but I won't question it, I'll just embrace the friendship I receive from each of them.
If you can't tell, I'm entering the "sappy" hormonal phase LOL.

Bowling for a cure
Later today I will be bowing for the Susan G. Komen foundation to help find a cure for breast cancer. I have had 2 family members that have been affected by breast cancer, my mom and aunt. I am proud to say that they both have recovered and are leading healthy lives. I recall how difficult it was for me to watch my mom as she battled. I took her to each of her chemo treatments and at the time the kids were young. They really didn't understand what was going on, they just knew that I was with Grandma and that she would come over lots for dinner as I wanted to be sure that she was eating well. Since she's single and really doesn't cook for herself that was one thing that concerned me. Well many years later she is healthy and I'm happy to see that.
On the training front, I completed 4 miles yesterday in 30 min. Good pace even though it was later at night. I didn't hit the elpitical until 8:40pm. I was happy and proud that I got it done. I was also happy that the pace I had on the eliptical at home was the same as the treadmill at work. Its important to me that I'm consistant in my pace. I know when I hit my super tired hormonal phase I won't be able to keep that pace but that's OK, I understand that my body is out of whack and hopefully soon I'll have answers. But for all the other times I'm running I want to be sure I'm consistant and improving my time from the 1/2 marathon last year.
This weekend is HCW weekend! I can't wait. I know one of the girls Deanna won't be there. I admire her for making the decision she did, some family things are going on and her kids need her. As a parent you do need to be selfish once in awhile so that you can be strong for your family but being able to recognize that its not the best time to be selfish is very admirable. I know that her kids will appreciate her willingness to be there for them and putting herself on the back burner occasionally. *HUGS DEANNA* I also remember last years trip, I was talking with Karen and she inspired me to join her to complete the Napa to Sonoma 1/2 marathon. She has been a big inspiration to me and I can't thank her enough for getting me into running. I never thought I'd be able to complete a run of 1 mile let alone 13.1 miles. But I did it, liked it and am doing it again. Thanks Karen (and others) for believing in me, before I believed in myself. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone and having a fun "Wings gone wild" weekend!

Drama
So my daughter is going through some 4th grade drama. One girl told another girl something that A said but its not true. Sheesh, I thought this didn't start until at least middle school. I called the other mom as she is a friend of mine and she will talk to her daughter and try and get the "other" side of the story. I'm sure tomorrow this will all blow over and things will be fine, but it just the hurt in my daughters eyes and the tears that flowed broke my heart. Now if I find that my daughter is the instigator there will be hell to pay because I will have none of that! I'm not sure if I did the write thing by calling the other parent, perhaps I should have let the girls work it out. I guess I won't ever know if I've made the correct decision. Hopefully she can learn from this and it will show that my "be kind to everyone" speeches will finally mean something.
Anyway, training today should be 4 miles that I will have to do later when I get home. I've got a jewelry party to go to shortly. I can actually see a difference in my backside getting smaller and my legs getting toner, its a good feeling that's for sure. I am starting to enter the "crabby" phase of my hormonal issues so hopefully I won't let anything set me back.
And as for above, there has been an update on the drama front, who knows what happened but it was a big misunderstanding and all is well. Both girls apologized to eachother and made up. Whew, I can't take drama!!!

It's Wednesday
Yesterday I got in a 4 mile run. It felt good and I felt strong. I do find that on the TM I do get bored and occasionally its hard for me to keep focused on the running task at hand. I did have my Ipod so that helped and the TV at work was turned to some decorating show. I guess it was OK. I do like having some mirrors to view my form, this helps so I don't injure myself.
Last night I did try my first new recipe from one of my many cookbooks. Mexican stuffed shells. It was a hit! The whole family liked it. I've got them all on board with trying new things and my daughter proclaimed that if you're always eating new foods you don't gain as much weight. Not sure where she heard that but I can see how it could be true. I just want to teach my kids good eating habits and to always try new things. So far so good. Tonight we'll pick another recipe to try on Sunday or sometime next week.
I should mention that as of yesterday we have a new President of these United States. I was not overwhelmed like some of my friends or co-workers. Honestly I thought of it as another day. It was historic and I shared with my kids last night that they did witness history as they watched the Oath during school time. I also shared with them that even though this may not have been our families choice for President, we need to respect the process and respect the leader of the free world. That is the beauty of living in this country, we have choices, there are so many people that don't have that freedom and we should be grateful that we do.
This Friday I'm bowling for the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer fund. I'm looking forward to it since my family has been directly affected by Breast Cancer. Both my mom and aunt had different stages of Breast Cancer but both of them are survivors and are cancer free!!
