7 miles

I ran 7 miles on Saturday. It felt good! I was strong, had good form and it wasn't as dreadful as I thought it would have been. I attempted 3 miles yesterday but I could tell that my body needed some rest so I ran a mile and walked a mile. Today is a rest day and I can tell my body needs it. It feels good to relax some, perhaps I'll actually get some scrapbooking or cleaning done.

Work is OK, we're moving locations. I knew this was coming just not so fast. I'm helping with seating arrangements and everyone and their uncle has to put their 2 cents in. Just be happy you have a desk to sit at!!! Then there's Miss Nosey pants co-worker who needs to know everything....Um I don't need your help with this so step back.

Passports came on Saturday so that's exciting....Germany here we come. Now only if flight prices would come down I'd be a happy girl.

Guess that's all, not much to say for a Monday morning.

Confidence

So I've really been trying to work on my confidence and I guess I need more work. I am starting a new role here at work, a little more technical in nature. It's wonderful because I get to learn more but I have no technical background. But I feel given the right tools and training I can do this job. I'm not creating code nor do I need to translate it so I won't need those skills. But I got thrust into a project and I have no idea what the hell I'm doing. The guy training me (who basically didn't finish the project and now it falls on my lap) has given me less than stellar training and tells me that he wants me to learn from my own mistakes. Well I have no problem with that but what I take issue with is he hasn't given me any of the tools to succeed and I'm not the personality that can continue to fail or make mistakes and think it's OK. Perhaps if I was given more to work with I'd be OK with it.

My co-worker seems to think that it is a self confidence issue on my part. Well perhaps it is but how can I feel confident about things I've never been given any training on....or the time of day from this particular co-worker. So now I'm left here feeling a little defeated, like I'm up a creek and haven't even been given the boat let alone the paddles. I know I'll be OK, but it is taking a hit to my confidence level and I don't like that.....I don't like to fail and I feel that if I do fail that it may mean my job.

On the running front, I've gotten in my 2 runs this week, tomorrow brings 7 miles. I'm excited to see if I can do it. I know that I can!! If I have to walk some so be it, the goal here is to get the 7 miles completed and feel good about it.

Long weekend....

So we jetted off to the Dells on Friday since the kids were off of school. We had a good time until about 3am ish on Saturday when E woke up saying he didn't feel good. 8:30ish he threw up....so the rest of the day was just relaxing in the hotel room and napping. By 3:30ish he was up to going to the dry park and played on the bumper cars and some laser tag but got upset when I wouldn't let him on the tea cups...I figured spinning was not a good idea for a kid that several hours earlier was trowing up....he wasn't happy. We headed to the arcade and there he had fun, things he could do without feeling sick. He did get sick around midnight again on Saturday but then he slept the rest of the night and yesterday was back to normal. I felt terrible, what kid wants to go away and then can't play with the other kids??? I felt terrible.

A sang at the local soccer game yesterday with her class. They sang the National Anthem and of course I got teary eyed....it's so wonderful to see your kids do things you never did and having fun doing it. The game was good too. I had never been to an indoor soccer game so it was an experience. A lot of action so it kept the kids engaged. They even want to go back.

I did get in a 3 mile run yesterday. It was nice and strong considering then I didn't feel good. I didn't get in my 6 miles that was scheduled for Saturday but I'll train hard this week and this week Saturday I'll be doing 7. I'm actually excited and worried at the same time. Last week's training was crummy but that's because I wasn't feeling the best but I really hate to miss the longer runs. I was planning on running at the hotel but with E being sick I was snuggling with him and even took a nap myself since I'd been up most the night. Saturday will be a challenge and I'm looking forward to it I just hope that last weeks lack of running doesn't make it too difficult! Hopefully it will be nice out and I can run outside for the first time of the season, that would be really great. Guess I should charge my ipod to get it ready.

I'm also a tad nervous....I asked all the parents to get back to me for the kids service project at religion and I've only heard from 2 of the parents (I'm not counting myself LOL)...I hope they are going to tell me this week what they are bringing otherwise I need to call the families to ask them to bring baked goods for the fund raiser....I really want this to be successful for the kids as they are putting their hearts in it. I guess I shouldn't worry about it, whatever they make will be good enough and I'm sure they'll be happy but as their teacher (and my son being one of the kids so as a mom) I want them to be successful so that they continue to want to help others and know that charity is a good thing. Although I am teaching them that any amount will help and is appreciated.

Feeling old

So I had my annual check up today, all is well and I'm better off than I was a year ago, still can't get my hormones fully in check but it's definitely a 90% improvement from last year. I mentioned the topic of weight, this go around of Weight Watchers is going well but the losses are fluctuating and taking longer than the first go around and she stated that as we get older it's normal. I really didn't think that I was old but now I think I might be LOL.

Running is going well, I believe there are 4 miles on tap for later today...I was hoping to get it done earlier so I could run errands and such later....but whatcha ganna do. Because we're going away for the weekend I'm hoping to get the 6 mile run in tomorrow, but I'm afraid it may be too much after today's run, so perhaps I'll do the 6 today...we'll see what I'm up for.

Just throwing a question out to all of you....my religion class was given $50 to donate (actually all religion classes were) and they chose the Humane Society. We are planning a bake sale after a religion class in a couple of weeks, any other ideas of easy fundraising that the kids could do? Nothing too complicated or recommended treats we could sell? They are really doing a good job and I'm proud of all the kids! It's fun to see their young hearts, so pure, full of joy and just as giving as can be, I'm glad I can be a part of their journey (Hopefully I'm not corrupting them too much LOL)

Why is it????

Why is it that people who kiss ass seem to be the ones that get ahead? So today I learned that one of my co-workers is becoming a team lead. After the merger of my company they combined my group with another and we report to the same manager. He is overwhelmed (I can tell) and team leaders is a good way to address having a larger team reporting to you. So we have a girl on our team that will now be a team lead for the other team. She told our manager that she had supervisory experience and experience in their line of work....Um REALLY??? Cuz you NEVER mentioned that EVER.

It's just frustrating is all....she's been kissing his ass since she found out he was our manager and it was only to get herself ahead. She's one that doesn't come in on time (here it is almost 9:30 and she's supposed to be here at 9 and there's no sign of her yet), she talks on the phone all day, in a foriegn language to boot, takes walks, leaves early, goes for seated chair massages and never makes up the time. Now I understand there are some days you have to leave early for an appt and it's hard for you to make up the time but one week you can work overtime and it all evens out in the end, but that has NEVER been her way. She thinks she's entitled to everything.

Anyway, it's just frustrating, not saying that I would want the job, although I do have team leader and supervisory experience so at least it would be a better fit than her.

Training is going well. Sunday I did 5 miles, my longest run by far and it felt good and strong and I can see that the training is going well and helping me become stronger. I already feel that I'm at a better place with this training than I was last year so I'm really proud and it gives me motivation to continue to work hard. If I put my mind to it, I will succeed!!!

Week 3

Week 3 of training started out strong. I had a 2.5 mile run yesterday and I felt strong and confident. I didn't wear my new shoes, I'll take those back and continue my hunt for new running shoes. Although yesterday's run was fine. My foot didn't feel like it was falling asleep so I'm wondering if it's my form and not the shoe. We'll see. This weekend I have a 5 mile run slated. I'll be doing that on Sunday as Saturday I have guests coming over so I'll switch my Saturday and Sunday runs so we'll see how I do then.

As you know I'll be headed to Germany this year and I'm very excited. My friend I'm staying with sent me a link to stay in a castle. That's right, we will spend a night in a castle. I'm so excited, who ever has stayed in a castle??? Not me that's for sure. I can pretend to be a princess LOL. We'll be staying at Kasteel Ten Berghe (http://www.kasteeltenberghe.be). Looks like it will be an experience of a lifetime.

Struggles pass...

So On Saturday I had a 4 mile run on the books and it went GREAT!!! I ran first thing in the morning and didn't eat anything but did have a Clif's Shot Blok before the work out and that gave me some energy that I was lacking. I took another one at the hour mark of running along with some water and that was my only break during the run. It really felt good and it was a strong run.

I have been getting the feeling that my left foot is falling asleep while running so I figured my shoes have outlived themselves although they look great. So I made a trip to REI on Saturday and picked out some shoes. I tried them out yesterday during my 2.5 mile run and well...they have to go back. I had the start of a blister forming on one of my toes and they just weren't very comfortable. I currently have the Ascic's 1140 and these were Ascic's 1150 (or something like that) so I'll see if they actually have the ones that I currently am using for running, otherwise I'll try a different pair to see if that helps.

So there was a lesson learned, I didn't get down that I couldn't complete the 3 mile run and I took my rest day on Friday as I should instead of trying to make up the time and Saturday's run was strong. So was Sunday's....so I was right in listening to my body and taking a break when needed and not trying to push myself. Just do what I can and know that if I'm not having a strong run that day, it's OK.....it will pass. Just listen to my body and avoid injury, that's what's important.
